Wake Up Christains Wednesday- on Tuesday. I make up the rules here!

So, let's talk....

Yes, I am still feeling a bit soap boxy. I have an idea. A good blog pal of mine has established "Mormon Monday's" as a kindness to me, I think (who constantly bombards her with questions about her religion). I had a novel idea of establishing a "Wake up Christians Wednesday" here on my own little plot of blog world land. Now, just so you understand, adhering to Wednesday will ultimately be ridiculous for me so "Wake up Christian's Wednesday" will occur at my will and whim and as I have a good bit of info. to support my cause here. Before we begin this undertaking I wish to set the record straight once again.... While I do not consider myself "Christian" I am a highly spiritual person who does absolutely have belief in "God" or, at least, a higher power and creator. I AM NOT ATHEIST although for most religious purposes I am doomed to hell for not following as some "Shepard's flock". That makes me a wayward sheep/black sheep. WHATEVER. The premise of following ANY man without using my own conscience, thought, and common sense is totally against my inner beliefs and so religion and I are oil and water so to speak. Besides, I think the Bible is tampered with and a direct result of greedy Holy men!- personal opinion only.
Now to begin our lesson...
Let's begin at the beginning shall we?
Let's begin with the definition of "Christian". 1. believer in Jesus Christ as savior: somebody whose religion is Christianity Now, let's think for a moment about being called a "Christian" nation. Why did we ever begin to believe that were true? No where that i know of- on our money, within our Constitution, on any monument in Washington D.C., is Jesus mentioned. God has many mentions and is seen a lot but no Jesus. If I am not mistaken Jesus is the prime subject of Christianity (see above definition) and therefore, would be necessary in any "Christian Nations" speakings. Therefore, I hold true to my belief of- this is not a nation based on Christianity, but is based on FREEDOM OF RELIGION. Put that into your thinking cap.
Now let's have one more bit of info., something new, just to make this a bit more interesting....

"The 'establishment of religion' clause of the First Amendment means at least
this: Neither a state nor the Federal Government can set up a church. Neither
can pass laws which aid one religion, aid all religions or prefer one religion
over another. Neither can force nor influence a person to go to or to remain
away from church against his will or force him to profess a belief or disbelief
in any religion. No person can be punished for entertaining or professing
religious beliefs or disbelief's, for church attendance or non-attendance. No tax
in any amount, large or small, can be levied to support any religious activities
or institutions, whatever they may be called, or whatever form they may adopt to
teach or practice religion. Neither a state nor the Federal Government can,
openly or secretly, participate in the affairs of any religious organizations or
groups and vice versa. In the words of Jefferson, the clause against
establishment of religion by law was intended to erect 'a wall of separation
between Church and State.'" 330 U.S. 1, 15-16.

This is a very clear cut expression by our laws to separate church and state. Now as we see in the gay marriage, abortion, and many other new laws... this is becoming more and more suppressed as our "law". As time marches on, many believe the "moral majority" have the right to impose their views on the rest of us. On the same note- why do non-Christians seek to take "God" out of everything and deny everyone of the choice of prayer, change historical statues, and take the word "God" off of our monies? Good grief! The key to freedom is in fact allowing others to participate in things you might not personally be inclined to agree with...

HELP SAVE OUR CHRISTIAN NATION Are you tired of our politicians and courts trampling on our Christian rights?A recent study showed that 77% of Americans follow a traditional Christian religion. This would lead you to believe that we are, truly, a Christian Nation. If that is true, then why do we, as Christians, sit back and do nothing while the politician and courts:-Take prayer out of our schools-Take the Ten Commandments out of our federal buildings-Take ‘Under God’ out of the Pledge of Allegiance-Take Christ out of Christmas
What will they do next? Take ‘In God We Trust’ off of our money? There is a bill in Congress right now to do just that. I don’t know about you, but I’ve taken about as much as I can stand. That is where A Christian Nation comes in.A Christian Nation is a non-denominational, nonpartisan, three-part project extending through the next few years.

SO!

God, as you will recall, does not denote Christianity. Jesus would.... So then why do we put God on the money, in the Allegance? Why do Christians believe the use of the word God in American history then creates some push toward "Christianity"? Why? Because they rein supreme? Because they are morally substantiated by their God? Because quite frankly, they believe they are just a tiny bit better than the rest of us un-religioned heathen's. But before you get on the Religios, self righteous, band wagon... perhaps you should consider how you would feel should another religions beliefs began to be imposed on you. What if, in the future, Christianity is no longer the majority. What if..... they put Allah on the money? Hmmmmm. That just might be offensive.
To have a great country, to have a free country... We must have a secular law country. A country with freedom of conscience as much as possible. Otherwise we risk losing peace, a huge factor in greatness.
Besides the word "God" ,being there or not, does not change the beliefs any of us hold, does it? The lack of prayer in school is not the reason for lack of morals today... parents, culture, and lack of integrity are to blame.
Another little bit of historical fact... During Regan's presidency he extended formal diplomatic recognition to the Holy See, the headquarters of the Catholic Church....Did you know that in February 1992 Time magazine did an expose over the Regan administrations altering of foreign aid programs (think Africa and their ever growing populations of starving children) to comply with the Catholic churches teachings on birth control? What happened to state/religion laws here?
Let's talk about Holy fiances shall we?
Did you know that because churches are tax-exempt we all pay additional taxes every year to support them? "Religious leaders pay no taxes on any owned property or on their income generated on those properties. Due to their tax exempt free ride they have a huge advantage for growing wealth... they own more than 25% of all the real estate in America!!! According to the IRS, church donations total over 19 billion dollars. This does not include profits from businesses, stock holdings, bond holdings, retirement centers, or lease-back arrangements. Churches were granted tax exemption on the basis that the church would relieve the state from social and welfare responsibilities by providing for the poor with whatever monies and property it it accumulated. Any excess monies would be used for this purpose only, not to be accumulated."
-Austin Miles
According to Austin, the Catholic Church- in direct opposition to this rule, has one of it's biggest investments for profit in pharmaceuticals who, if you can believe it, manufacture BIRTH CONTROL PILLS!, whom preaches against it's usage. Now that is SUPER HYPOCRISY!

For 25
years, IRS agents had branded Scientology a commercial enterprise and refused to
give it the tax exemption granted to churches. The refusals had been upheld in
every court. But that night the crowd learned of an astonishing turnaround. The
IRS had granted tax exemptions to every Scientology entity in the United States.
"The war is over," David Miscavige, the church's leader, declared to
tumultuous applause.
The landmark reversal shocked tax experts and saved the
church tens of millions of dollars in taxes. More significantly, the decision
was an invaluable public relations tool in Scientology's worldwide campaign for
acceptance as a mainstream religion.

A Florida state court ruled that a church-owned unimproved lot was
exempt from real estate taxes. The court observed that "while the land was
substantially vacant and unimproved and was not used by the church continuously,
nevertheless, the land was being actually and presently used by the church for
religious purposes sporadically and improvements and greater physical use were
planned. The church's present religious use of the property, while not evidenced
by improvements and not continuous, was exclusive of any other use and was not
incidental to any nonexempt use." Hausman v. First Baptist Church, 513 So.2d 767
(Fla. App. 1987).

" No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money " (Matt 6:24). Hmmm... and so I wonder......

Okay, I think this is enough for one day....

I certainly won't deny that the Mormon church owns a lot of various businesses. But I can say from experience that the church uses much of its profits for humanitarian work. In addition to running what is probably the largest non-governmental welfare system in this country, the church responds to all kinds of natural disasters and other emergency situations with supplies, food, man power, etc. Additionally, the businesses the church runs require employees to make them work, so they are providing jobs (which is a central principle of the church welfare system: help people get back on their feet so that they can help themselves -- jobs are necessary to make this happen). Money is also used to build new church buildings, etc., but the leaders of the church are not ammassing large quantities of personal wealth. Also interesting to note: the church is not in any debt. Nothing is built, no aid is sent out, that isn't already paid for. The idea is to be debt-free and self-sustaining so that in times of crisis the church is able to freely help those in need, whether they are members of our church or not. Just thought you'd be interested to know!
