America The Great (-ly Fleeced)

Today I am going with the hot topics and news again...

Let's begin with Dr.Phil... Did any of you happen to catch his show this week on the Texas Polygamists or then on Thursday? I have to say I am sincerely perplexed. Dr. Phil has entwined himself in the polygamist thing in a very "Phil-ish" antic ( think: Britney, Bail, ect.) once again. He just seems to keep sticking his nose into the most explosive places. Hasn't he ever heard of "curiosity and the cat"? Now, the thing I find most interesting is how his show directly contradicted what I saw on my local news by asking people to volunteer to be (I forget his actual term...) "friends" to these children. Our local news said not only would these children not be going into Foster Care homes but also would need no extra "volunteers" because they (Texas CPS) had decided group homes (ie. orphanages) would be better suited for their "culture shock issues" and to keep the whole case more private- for the children's sake ofcourse. For the children's sake-HMPF. Next, I find it interesting that the "Dr." supports these children being ripped from their mothers while investigations take place especially if you caught Thursday's bombshell of a show.... Let me "Phil" you in- pun intended- The good Dr. had a VERY SICK family on who absolutely were a cess pool of disgusting and horrible sexual abuse. (The Grandfather actually confessed to having molested his 2 week old daughter- in front of his wife, her mother. Then that abused daughter, as an adult, goes onto to allow her son to go have sleep overs and campouts with "Grandpa"?!?!??!?) and nobody is jumping all over this woman asking "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?" Is this case not identical to the polygamist issue (generation after generation of abuse- only this time not alleged, confessed to!) and should this boy not be absolutely ripped out of that home immediately in Dr. Phil's opinion? Does this woman not pose as much threat to her son as any of the polygamist mothers? Did she not neglect to protect her son from sexual abuse? So, I ask...Is it because of the anonymity of each family because it is a polygamist group rather than I single family incident? Is it because their religion is taboo to most of America and therefore subjected to mass cultural beliefs, perhaps misunderstandings, and ultimately witch hunts? What is it that strips these people of their human status and makes it so easy for us to cast stones and unfairly judge guilt without evidence? Common sense says that there is an issue of fairness here...justice has been swept aside as American, self righteous, more widely accepted religions piety takes over. After all, they are doing God's work, right? I am watching Dr. Phil. I've got my eye on you!

Next, lets talk about more bullying and creating fear tactics...

"One of the main purposes which drives selective prosecution in tax cases is
deterrence," the judge said, while denying it had anything to do with his
sentence. "In some instances, that means those of celebrity stand greater risk
of prosecution. But there's nothing unusual about it, nor is there anything
unlawful about it. It's the way the system works."

Mr. Wesley Snipes has gotten himself into very hot water over his lack of tax filing/paying. Somehow, I find my self snickering behind my hand and rallying him on. For Shame. This guy had the audacity to go up against the IRS, you gotta have some respect for his fearless representation of his beliefs, at least. Secretly don't we all harbor the will to NOT PAY OUR TAXES? We all hate the tax man- right? That is EXACTLY why Mr. Snipes is being hung out to dry. So that you and I don't decide to support him and starve our wonderful government to DEATH! Take away the people's power- AND QUICK. Anybody ever watched A Bug's Life? With Bush's approval rates in the toilet it seems a safe legal fight that we are all being taxed without representation this year!

"The sentencing court sends the right message to the American taxpayer —
you've got to pay your taxes," U.S. Attorney Robert O'Neill told reporters
outside the usually quiet central Florida courthouse. "Rich, poor, it doesn't
matter. We all pay our taxes."

Well, doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy? Doesn't that statement just embody freedom and liberty? I don't know about you but my purse strings just shriveled up into raisins. The government alleged Snipes made at least $13.8 million for the three years in question, owing at least $2.7 million in back taxes on them alone. Sure, plenty of people will be angry that he makes ALL THAT MONEY and then doesn't pay his taxes like the rest of us. Not me. I say, this guy worked for his cash and he wants his kept in his pocket EXACTLY like you want yours in your pocket. Besides, WHAT IS OUR HARD EARNED MONEY GOING TO? What exactly are their big plans for that $2.7 MILLION DOLLARS FROM ONE MAN?!?!??!?!?!??!?!??!? Can you even imagine how much money this country rakes in yearly? It is absolutely vulgar to imagine- and then they have the balls -er... pardon Granny, to tell us we are losing our Social Security and our deficit is bigger and bigger with each passing shot fired- er... year. They must be worse at budgeting than I ever thought about being. Talk about the fleecing of America.

And so I have bitched my way through another posting. All for naught- I know. I do not believe I get any true satisfaction from venting here. I am not sure what the pull to express these opinions are... Justice seems to need a voice and altho I do believe it is said in vein... I believe there is some reasoning for my passionate feelings and want to express them. Who knows.
